Flawless Beauty

Scarlett Johanssen and Keira Knightly are some of the most beautiful women in the world? Since when did Mayte lose her crown? She is absolutely gorgeous, and I have yet to find a flaw in her looks. Forget FHM magazine, this is Datbury's top pick.

New blog

There is a new blogger in town, and its my older sister who lives in St. Louis although she called me from Chicago last night. Check it out when you get a chance. And that handsome boy on the blog is my nephew!

Local Elections in New Orleans

They are local, all right. There is a protest scheduled this weekend according to the Tom joyner Morning Show in New Orleans regarding the upcoming elections, most notably is the mayoral. The issue surrounding these elections is that there are no satellite polling places being set up for the evacuees. IOW, you need to be in New Orleans in order to vote in this election. Now will someone please tell me why there are no satellite polling places being set up? According to radio reports, a judge ruled that the satellite polling places aren't necessary. Interesting development, eh?

No wonder some people hate Christians

Man we have a serious leadership problem if people like Tom Delay are representing us. Where was his professed Christianity when he was violating ethics and stunting the growth of Houston? Now that he has been exposed, he calls on God? That is so typical.

Have fun!

A Father's pain, a son's journey

My 6 year old came home yesterday and told me that he did not like his skin because it was dark.

I always knew that there would come a time when I would have to teach my son about the evils of racism, and the effects that it has had on the world.

I didn't think that it would be so early.

I was hoping and praying that having him to focus on a relationship with Christ would strengthen him to be able to transcend racism like I have. But what I forgot was that there were roads that I had to travel to get where I am today.

Many of those roads were not smooth. I didn't have to face dead bodies hanging from trees.

I didn't have to face people in white sheets with guns and clubs.

I didn't have to pick cotton.

But I've been intimidated, disenfranchised, and even had foreign objects thrown at me.

All because of the color of my skin. My sin is my skin is what the rapper Ice Cube once said.

And here I am having to teach my son about an unfair prejudgement that he may have to endure for the rest of his life.

So for him to understand, I pulled out ten of my many books on black history, and showed him the faces of beauty, success, endurance, talent, progress, hope, and love. I sat him in my lap and told him how people who look just he does conquered many nations, contributed life changing inventions, transformed medicine, and taught the world how to love.

You should have seen the look on his face when he told me that he did not like his skin. I was so filled with rage and hatred toward the world. Here is my innocent son dealing with an unfair life. He attends a mostly white school, and I can only imagine how he arrived at that he feeling.

He said that he felt better after I reviewed the books with him, but I know that this will be a struggle for him until he has my strength and more. The best way to teach him, in my eyes, is the way my mother taught me.

Six years old, and the world is showing my son its ass. Thirty years old, and I'm still capable of showing my son how to kick the world's ass when it tries to bring color into the equation. And I will.

Friggin' Hilarious Site!

Voyage to the world of Chickens.

Hurricane Relief effort!

I'm so sick and tired of people in Houston blaming everything on the Katrina Evacuees. Supposedly this mentality has spread to San Antonio and Dallas. Well than you Texas for taking care of my relatives, but we had to tap dat butt in the Elite Eight. Yeah, you can kind of say that it was personal. We have been knocked down, but not out. So to you Texas fans, be quiet and listen to the music.

Yeah, I knew you'd like it.

Be careful what you say in your sleep!

This man in India, obviously just saying what is really on his mind, said divorce three times in his sleep, and was granted the divorce. WTH! Could you imagine that happening in America? And who in the world takes seriously what someone says in their sleep? If you read the article, the ending seems to be a fortunate one(depends upon your perspective of marriage), but the idea of getting divorced because of what you say in your sleep is completely and utterly ridiculous.

Immigration bill

I can not support this bill. As much as I agree with the idea that immigration is a problem in the US, making illegal immigrants felons is a stupid and useless idea. People come to America not to commit crimes, but to make a better life for themselves. Look around the world. What better place to be than America. Maybe America needs to adopt the idea that Iceland has, project it as a place no one wants to live in.

Crimes are committed by people born and raised here, so throw that argument out of the window. Instead of spending money to educate and hospitalize them, use that money to give them a medical check up, and then deport them. If all they get out of the deal is free healthcare, then I'm willing to live with that.

But making them felons would mean that we would have to house them in our prisons which we already have too many of. Send them back, and not just the Mexicans. The Cubans, Haitians, Canadians, Chinese, etc. You can even sneak the stupid Americans as well. But don't ask me to detain Dick Cheney. I don't want to be shot.

Prayer and healing

Is there scientific evidence that supports the belief that prayer influences healing? That depends upon who you ask. This issue is discussed briefly in the article.

For those who know, you know that I believe that prayer can help someone heal. Sometimes illness is simply a state of mind, and sometimes its necessary to call on the divine to heal you. Is there a guarantee? Depends upon whom you ask, but better safe than sorry I say.

I thought getting drunk in a bar was legal

According to this story, that's not the case. And it seems that they are arresting the type who stumble and fall, or talk a lot of crap to people. So if you're out in a bar and drunk, sit down, and be quiet! That concludes today's lesson.

Laughter for Women

You ladies would probably like this crap, and its probably worked before too!

WAYS TO TURN DOWN UNWANTED MEN !!!!

HE: Can I buy you a drink?
SHE: Actually I'd rather have the money.

HE : I'm a photographer. I've been looking for a face like yours.
SHE: I'm a plastic surgeon. I've been looking for a face like yours.

HE: Hi. Didn't we go on a date once? Or was it twice?
SHE: Must've been once. I never make the same mistake twice.

HE : How did you get to be so beautiful?
SHE: I must've been given your share.

HE: Will you go out with me this Saturday?
SHE: Sorry. I'm having a headache this weekend.

HE: Your face must turn a few heads.
SHE: And your face must turn a few stomachs.

HE: Go on ,don't be shy. Ask me out.
SHE: Okay, get out.

HE: I think I could make you very happy.
SHE: Why? Are you leaving?

HE: What would you say if I asked you to marry me?
SHE: Nothing. I can't talk and laugh at the same time.

HE: Can I have your name?
SHE: Why? Don't you already have one?

HE: Shall we go see a movie?
SHE: I've already seen it.

HE: Where have you been all my life?
SHE: Hiding from you.

HE: Haven't I seen you some place before?
SHE: Yes. That's why I don't go there anymore.

HE: Is this seat empty?
SHE: Yes, and this one will be if you sit down.

HE: So, what do you do for a living?
SHE: I'm a female impersonator.

HE: Hey baby, what's your sign?
SHE: Do not enter.

HE: Your body is like a temple.
SHE: Sorry, there are no services today.

HE: If I could see you naked, I'd die happy.
SHE: If I saw you naked, I'd probably die laughing.

My friend Dawn sent this to me. I bet she's used these lines before! ;P

Happy Water Day

Did you know that the UN passed a resolution in 1993 that today should be known and recognized as Water Day? Is the first UN resolution that you have ever read about? Learn something new and check out the article. And with that, I'm going to drink some water!

Will it ever die?

Racism? Will it ever die? Not as long as we continue to breathe life into it. Check out the article here. Although its a new millennium, some old ghosts refuse to rest.

I remember when this story first came out, and I must admit that I was hopeful it wasn't as bad as it sounded, but obviously that wasn't the case. Is this country regressing or what?

Congratulations to Angela Bassett and Courtney Vance

After years of trying to conceive, they have been blessed with twins through a surrogate mother according to an email that I received.

Thought you knew everything about genes?

According to this article, the science is not as exact as previously thought. It appears to be based on chances rather than solid fact, and only for those whose ancestors might have been isolated from other groups. Interesting stuff. Check it out.

Flyin' Female!

If you didn't hear about this young lady, she is the first female to dunk twice in a game. On top of that, she beat out some guys for a slam dunk competition.

Plus she's hot. I usually prefer ladies in my age range and older, but she is really hot to me. The pics I have don't do her the justice that I have seen.

I'm back!!!

Not that I ever really left, but the break was well needed, and If I do say so myself, well deserved.

I sent the kiddies to daycare all week while I enjoyed my break. They weren't excited about it, so I told them that if they ever work in a school with at-risk kids and get a chance at a break, keep your kids at home with you and see how you feel. With my oldest being six, they all had no clue as to what I was talking about.

My second little man is turning three tomorrow. Wow! Time freaking flies. And he has been having one of those maturity spurts for the last month. He now dresses himself in the morning and does not want any help unless he gets stuck. And he is getting to be so tall!

And my daughter, well, what can I say. She gives the best hugs. When I pick her up, she wraps her arms around my neck and squeezes tight, but not to where she is choking me. Best hugs indeed. Good morning to all!

Stevie on American Idol

Did you see him? The kids were performing his songs. The last six were much better than the first. And you know that I was glued to the TV like white on Michael Jackson! Despite his accomplishments, Stevie is underrated to me. Some of his best music has not been released, and most people only listen to the radio songs. The reason I love his music so much is not just the quality, but his message of love and hope. A blind man with so much love and hope for the world should be considered a lesson in itself. And many people do not know that Stevie also lost his sense of smell in a car accident, so not only can he not see, but he can't smell either, but his message carries on.

If I ever meet Stevie, I would probably cry as well. To meet your hero must be an incredible feeling.

You go Stevie, and knock them out tonight!

Spring Break . . .

is next week, so I don't know if I will blog over that time, but check in just in case I do. Have a great weekend!

Received this in an email.

Life is a theater - invite your audience carefully. Not everyone is holy enough and healthy enough to have a front row seat in our lives. There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance.

It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere relationships, friendships, fellowships!

Observe the relationships around you.

Pay attention to: Which ones lift and which ones lean? Which ones encourage and which ones discourage? Which ones are on a path of growth up hill and which ones are going down hill?

When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse? Which ones always have drama?

The more you seek God and the things of God, the more you seek quality; the
more you seek not just the hand of God but the face of God, the more you seek things honorable; the more you seek growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the FRONT ROW and who should be moved to the balcony of your life. You cannot change the people around you . . . but you can change the people you are around!

Ask God for wisdom and discernment and choose wisely the people who sit in the front row of your life.

Blonde Lobster?

That is what scientists have discovered according to CNN. I wonder what kind of blond jokes will come out of this one. Its a freaky looking thing indeed!

Back in stride again

Well you can barely see me, but its me, and you can tell from the pic where I am. Oh I had so much fun. I can't wait to go back to San Francisco. Houston is so plain, flat, and full of concrete. Even on a rainy day, San Francisco is a gorgeous site to behold.

Sacramento is beautiful as well. Interesting to note that we did not see a single stray dog, cat, or even a squirrel. Why, I don't know, but I won't mess with stereotypes here.

And yes, that is a little afro I'm sporting. I'm trying to grow my hair out to get cornrows. Hopefully it will keep growing because its been the same size for two months now.

Now I have lots of blogs to catch up on reading. Peace and Dax.

In Sacramento

I am having a blast at this conference! San Francisco has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world! The Golden Gate bridge is beautiful to look at, but average in ride. Alcatraz is awesome! When I develop my pics, I will post them. Peace and hair grease!
