Will it ever die?

Racism? Will it ever die? Not as long as we continue to breathe life into it. Check out the article here. Although its a new millennium, some old ghosts refuse to rest.

I remember when this story first came out, and I must admit that I was hopeful it wasn't as bad as it sounded, but obviously that wasn't the case. Is this country regressing or what?

  • No, it won't die, and here's why:

While humanity has some redeeming qualities, we also have a twisted, warped side with a capacity for hatred and violence. Racism is the lazy person's hatred. To hate a person for most other reasons (whether they are valid or not, and whether hatred is EVER justified or not), one must go to the time and effort of learning something about that person on the inside -- their beliefs, opinions, whatever. But racism -- all you have to do is look at a person and decide they deserve your hatred.

So not only is it ignorant and evil, it's damned lazy. That's why this white boy has nothing but contempt for people like that man's coworkers. But it's also convenient and easy, which is why I have little hope it will ever go away.

  • I don't know if I would call it a lazy person's hatred and some people put in overtime to assure racial purity, but yes, some people are very lazy minded. Its as if thinking is a chore.

  • Good grief! What the heck is wrong with people?!?! Gah!

I just don't understand how a person could think that *any* behaviour like that could be considered acceptable... Anywhere... To anyone...
