Website of the millennium

Sorry guys, its not a porn site. Keep surfing the web. Its is, however, a utopic dreamland phased into reality. Its a small portion of heaven manifested in the most commonly visited place in today's society. Are you ready to see what I'm talking about? And no, its not related to Stevie although Stevie may be there from time to time. Click on the link below, and find my resting spot.

Legal Loan Sharks

Have you ever heard of the term "Loan Shark? Well, Loan Sharks were people in your neighborhood who gave loans to people at absurdly high interest rates, and if you didn't pay back the money at the agreed upon time, something terrible would happen to you or a family member. Needless to say, this type of extortion was illegal, and quickly stamped out by local and federal agencies. No longer would the common man or woman be oppressed by this scandalous fish who preyed upon the simple, weakminded, balanced-budget challenged individuals! Well, those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it. The loan sharks have resurfaced, but not in their original form. They have shaped themselves into a more contemporary form-payday loans. That's right. I wrote PAYDAY LOANS. Why are you looking at the screen like that? Have you ever taken out a payday loan? I have. It makes sense and sounds so easy, right? Just a few bucks to tie you over until the next payday. What you fail to realize is that when payday comes around, you have fewer dollars than what your check says because of the absurd interest rates! And you can't stall, or make arrangements because they have a copy of your check! Refusal to pay is writing a bad check, when in reality, you didn't write a bad check. Its used as collateral for taking out a loan. In a regular bank, collateral is something tangible, not something negotiable, or even a potential. This legal loophole could not only damage your credit, but damage your criminal record as well. Don't believe me? Check out this website: http://www.paydayloanshark.net/

If you find yourself constantly in need of money or always borrowing, its likely that your lifestyle is not supported by your income, or you are a terrible manager of money. In either case, you need to rearrange your priorities, and stop putting your life in the hands of the legal loan sharks. Michael Jackson: Not Guilty

The first song that I remember hearing sang by Jackson was ABC. Of course it was the Jackson Five back then, and they were singing before I was born. My older sister was a huge Michael Jackson fan, and still is to this day. She was fortunate to win free tickets to see him in concert during his Thriller tour. That must have been an exciting experience. Fast Forward almost 20 years (I'm telling my age a little), and we have the trial that just ended. I never thought Michael Jackson was guilty. I always thought that he really lost his childhood, and was trying to find it through interacting with kids. The only thing that Michael needs is therapy. I don't know him personally, and have never met him, but from what I've seen and read, he really is a lonely person who simply needs therapy, and more adult relationships.

Know Your History

"Those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it." That is a quote from somebody famous. Do you know who that person is? Post your answers. In the mean time, I will post a link at the bottom of this page for you to read. It concerns some activities that the US gov't was considering at one time. I guess you could say that it is honorable that these acts were not carried out, but to concoct such a plan makes me wonder if such an idea could be brought about again. I will let you read for your own edification.

Slavery alive and well

http://www.antislavery.org/

Did you think that Abraham Lincoln freed all of the slaves in the world? He actually only freed the slaves in the South, while slaves in the North were being held. Isn't that crazy? And we celebrated this man authoring the Emancipation Proclamation. On some level, it was progress, but hardly about morality as is taught in schools. The link above(I hope it works) shows that slavery is still a reality in the world. So when you have time, click on the link and learn something new. Don't forget to post your thoughts.

Cover Songs

While some may say that artists should be original in their works, musicians have been "covering" songs for centuries. When you "cover" a song, you're taking a song originally written by someone else, and recording or performing it. With today's laws, this is impossible without permission, but most artists grant the permission all in the name of artistry. The first song that comes to mind is Luther Vandross' cover of Stevie Wonder's "Creepin'". That has to be one of the best covers of all time! I also like Jodeci's "Lately", Lauryn Hill's "You're Just To Good To Be True", Prince's "Maybe Your Baby", John Coltrane's "My Favorite Things", Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U", et al. There are so many excellent cover songs that I could go on and on. Now, there are also some bad covers. Donnell Jones "Knocks Me Off My Feet". What trash! You're not Stevie, so get your own style! What are some of your favorite cover songs, and some that you absolutely detest?

Been gone awhile

Yes, I've been gone awhile. This website has not been supporting my html like other websites, which of course, makes no sense to me because I didn't invent html. At any rate, I shall be back soon, and posting articles devoid of html. Thanks for reading, and God bless.
